Amityville Memorial High School Chorus earns Gold rating

The Amityville School District is proud to announce that the Amityville Memorial High School Chorus has earned a prestigious Gold rating at this year’s NYSSMA Major Organization Assessment Festival for its Level 5 performance program.
The NYSSMA Major Organization Assessment Festival provides ensembles with the opportunity to demonstrate their musical abilities before an adjudication panel. Participating groups are evaluated on a variety of musical and technical criteria and may receive a Certificate of Participation, Bronze rating, Silver rating, Gold rating, or Gold with Distinction rating. Assessment levels range from Level 1, the introductory level, through Level 6, the most challenging level. The Amityville Memorial High School Chorus performed at Level 5, demonstrating a high degree of musical skill and artistry.
According to NYSSMA assessment guidelines, a Gold rating is awarded to organizations that have demonstrated “an outstanding level of technical and artistic skill in each of the evaluated categories (tone, intonation, balance, technique, accuracy/execution, rhythm, interpretation) for all three selections. Any weaknesses will have been minimal. Recommendations will be given to further enhance their music performance skills.”
This achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and talent of the student musicians, as well as their commitment to musical excellence throughout the school year. The district extends its heartfelt congratulations to all of the participating chorus members and their teacher Joseph DeMato-Garcia for this outstanding accomplishment. Their achievement serves as a testament to the strength of Amityville's music program and the passion our students bring to the performing arts.
