About Our District
Superintendent Goals 2023-2024
The vision of Amityville UFSD is a vibrant, 21st Century school district that is emanating and elevating to new levels of success. A large part of my role as incoming superintendent is to build a foundation for success rooted in a deep, systematic, emergent understanding of the district’s strengths and challenges. I intend to learn more about the school district, community and provide for the continued progress of the district going forward.
During this critical period of transition in leadership, my entry plan is designed to engage the entire educational community to understand as much as possible about Amityville's past, where it stands today, and where it aspires to arrive in the future. Below are the goals that I intend to aspire to and engage in during the period of time following my appointment by the Board of Education and through the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year.
Goal 1: To learn and recognize the school district and individual school building culture, strengths, and areas identified for continuous growth.
Goal 2: To review strategic planning, with an eye toward continued focus on best practice strategies in teaching and learning and supporting best practice operational strategies.
Goal 3: To assess the state of the school district, including core approaches to teaching and learning, operations, business systems, finances and budgeting, reviewing externally funded and conducted audits, evaluations, and reviews in order to take timely action for improvement.
Strategic Planning: To focus organizational efforts and align resources, financial and human, to ensure all students are provided a world-class education that will prepare them to be life, college, and global workforce ready.
Our Community
Amityville was settled in 1657 and the first schools were active in 1862. The community is located in the southwest corner of Suffolk County on the beautiful Great South Bay. Today, with a population of more than 20,000, the Amityville Union Free School District includes the Village of Amityville and portions of North Amityville and East Massapequa.

Our Schools
The Amityville Union Free School District is supported by a $97,130,734 school budget. The district is presently upgrading its buildings through a $69.9 million bond referendum passed by voters in March 2016. Approximately 3,150 students are serviced by the district's five public schools:
- Northeast Elementary School (Pre-K Center)
- Northwest Elementary School (Grades K, 1 and 2)
- Park Avenue Memorial Elementary School (Grades 3, 4 and 5)
- Edmund W. Miles Middle School (Grades 6, 7 and 8)
- Amityville Memorial High School (Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12)
