On April 18, students in Ms. Nicole Gross’s class at Northwest Elementary School in Amityville wrapped up their reading and writing unit with a Publishing Party.

Northwest’s young authors were invited to share the personal narratives they had written, which they brainstormed, drafted, edited and revised over several weeks before choosing their favorite to publish. Their books were colored and bound, and students were so excited to sit in the Author Chair and share with their classmates and teachers who came to listen to them read their stories.

Students shared feedback and had a gallery walk to further examine their classmates' books before enjoying some cupcakes and juice. Additionally, students received a certificate that celebrated their published work.
