Northwest Elementary School celebrates the Year of the Horse
On Feb. 11, students at Northwest Elementary School in Amityville had a wonderful time participating in a Lunar New Year parade to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
Northwest teachers Ms. Meisser and Ms. Pellegrino, along with their students, created a large dragon that proudly led the parade through the hallways. Students were filled with excitement as they watched the dragon make its way down the hallway. The following classes participated in the parade: Ms. Jones, Ms. Pellegrino, Ms. Smith, Ms. Faulkner, Ms. Dematos, and Mr. Critelli.
In their classrooms, students learned about the traditions of the holiday, read stories, and created horse-related projects and colorful lanterns to celebrate the Year of the Horse. The district would like to thank all of the teachers who helped share this meaningful cultural celebration with their students and made the experience so special for everyone.
