The Amityville Union Free School District has appointed Kimberly Musial as its new director of fine and performing arts. 

With more than 15 years of experience in arts education and district leadership, Musial brings a diverse background in music education, curriculum development, arts administration and performance. Throughout her career, she has led strategic planning initiatives, supervised faculty teams, expanded student participation in fine arts programs, and helped districts earn recognition for excellence in music education. Her leadership has also included overseeing multimillion-dollar investments in arts facilities and developing professional learning opportunities for educators.

"We are excited to welcome Kimberly Musial to the Amityville family," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gina Talbert. "Her passion for arts education, innovative leadership and commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for students align with our vision of educating the whole child. The arts inspire creativity, collaboration and confidence, and Musial’s experience will help strengthen and expand those opportunities for every student."

Musial most recently served as the director of fine and performing arts for the Huntington Union Free School District, where she led districtwide arts initiatives across multiple schools. Prior to her administrative leadership, she spent more than a decade directing orchestra programs in New York and Texas, helping students earn top honors at New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), Long Island String Festival Association (LISFA), All-State and All-County festivals.

An accomplished professional violist, Musial earned a Bachelor of Music degree with honors in viola performance from the University of Houston before pursuing graduate performance studies at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She later earned a Master of Science in Arts Administration from Shenandoah University and advanced certificates in Music Education from CUNY Queens College and Educational Administration from St. John's University.

In addition to her work in public education, Musial is the founder and artistic director of Luminous Sounds, a New York-based professional string ensemble that performs throughout the region. She also founded Ensemble Consulting Co., which mentors aspiring musicians through the college audition and admissions process while supporting early-career music educators. As a professional musician, she has performed at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall and worked under internationally acclaimed conductors such as Kurt Masur, André Previn and John Rutter.
