Amityville Memorial High School Student Selected for Adelphi University String Orchestra Preview Day

Amityville Memorial High School student Jonell has been selected to participate in Adelphi University’s String Orchestra Preview Day on Oct. 25, an opportunity that will bring together outstanding high school string musicians for a college-level orchestral experience.
During the daylong program at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center in Garden City, Jonell will rehearse and perform alongside Adelphi string faculty and current music students. The experience will include ensemble rehearsals and sectional instruction, while also giving participating students an opportunity to explore Adelphi’s Department of Music and performing arts facilities.
Through this experience, Jonell will have the opportunity to strengthen technical and ensemble performance skills while gaining firsthand insight into the expectations and opportunities of a collegiate music program. The day will culminate with a concert performance at 5 p.m., showcasing the work of the participating student musicians.
The Amityville Union Free School District congratulates Jonell on this exciting achievement and looks forward to seeing where this musical journey leads next.
