Northeast Students Create With Care for Memorial Sloan Kettering Patients

Students in Ms. Avesra’s class at Northeast Elementary School recently turned creativity into an opportunity to care for others.
Two Northeast parents joined the class to help students create special crafts and other items for breast cancer patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Working together, students put thought and care into each creation with the goal of bringing encouragement to patients.
Beyond the hands-on activity, the project gave students an age-appropriate opportunity to learn about kindness, empathy and helping others. It also brought families into the classroom as partners in creating a meaningful experience for students.
