Amityville Memorial High School honors Black history and culture
On Feb. 27, Amityville Memorial High School students took center stage during the school’s Black History Month celebration, held during the school day in the high school auditorium.
The event showcased the talents of high school students through cultural dances, African drumming, spoken word, poetry, step performances, and musical tributes honoring Black history and culture. The performance highlighted both the rich legacy of influential Black figures and the ongoing contributions of today’s leaders, offering a glimpse into the future of Black excellence within the Amityville community.
The show also served as a preview of the districtwide Black History Month celebration held later that evening, giving students and staff the opportunity to share their performances with the school community before joining the larger celebration with students from all five district schools.
Amityville Memorial High School is proud of its students for their dedication, creativity, and professionalism in bringing this meaningful celebration to life, providing both entertainment and inspiration for the entire scho ol.
