NYSED Regionalization Initiative
NYSED Regionalization Initiative: Community Update
In September 2024, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) requested that our district complete a survey as part of its new regionalization initiative. This survey is the first step toward identifying possible collaborations that could help reduce costs and expand educational opportunities for students in our area. The survey responses are due by December 6, 2024, and our district is actively preparing our submission.
NYSED has created a specific page at regionalization
As new information becomes available, we will update this page. See below for the latest updates.

NYSED Regionalization Initiative Comment Deadline: November 25, 2024
If you would like to comment on the NYSED Regionalization Initiative please email it to REGCOMMENTS@nysed.gov. The 60-day comment period ends on November 25, 2024.
Key Points:
- The survey is not a mandate for districts to merge but instead aims to explore opportunities for resource sharing and collaboration.
- To clarify, NYSED has emphasized in all communications that regionalization does not mean merging programs or districts.
- Our district representatives will attend upcoming meetings to learn more about the potential benefits and collaborative options available.
Timeline:
- By April 2025: Each region will submit an interim report detailing initial findings and proposals.
- By October 2025: Each region will finalize its collaborative plan.
Thank you for staying informed as we explore new opportunities to enhance the education experience in our district.
