Career Day inspires future leaders at Edmund W. Miles Middle School

On March 13, students at Edmund W. Miles Middle School in Amityville got a firsthand look at the world of work during Career Day.
The day brought together a diverse group of professionals representing a wide range of fields, including law enforcement, first responders, social workers, health care professionals, educators and journalists. Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to hear directly from these experts as they shared personal stories about their career journeys, daily responsibilities and the steps it takes to turn passions into professions.
Adding a special touch to the day, several of the guest speakers were alumni of the Amityville School District. They reflected on their time as students and highlighted the valuable lessons and experiences that helped shape their paths to success.
Members of the National Junior Honor Society played an important leadership role, guiding guests through the building and ensuring the event ran smoothly. Their involvement helped create a welcoming and organized experience for both presenters and students.
Career Day offered more than just information — it sparked curiosity, encouraged students to set clear goals, and it gave them a clearer vision of the possibilities that lie ahead. The district extends its sincere appreciation to all of the professionals who generously shared their time and insights, helping to inspire the next generation of leaders.
