Traveling planetarium visits students at Northwest Elementary School

Second graders at Northwest Elementary School in Amityville recently embarked on an out-of-this-world learning adventure as they welcomed the Vanderbilt Traveling Museum to their school.
Transforming their gym into an immersive planetarium, the traveling dome provided students with a unique, hands-on opportunity to explore the wonders of the universe. Each class stepped inside the dome to experience an engaging presentation that brought key science concepts to life. During the program, students explored topics including the sun, moon, constellations, and the changing seasons. The interactive experience sparked curiosity and excitement, allowing young learners to deepen their understanding of the world beyond Earth in a memorable and meaningful way.
Students remained fully engaged throughout the presentation, eagerly asking thoughtful questions and demonstrating a strong interest in space science. The experience not only supported classroom learning but also inspired a sense of wonder and discovery.
The visit from the traveling planetarium provided an enriching educational opportunity for Northwest’s second graders, reinforcing the importance of hands-on learning experiences that ignite imagination and curiosity.
