On Oct. 11, students celebrated Hispanic culture through song, dance and poetry at Edmund W. Miles Middle School in Amityville.
Hosted by the middle school’s Builders Club, the annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration featured the talents of dozens of student performers. Middle school teacher Carolyn Mejia served as the program’s emcee as students paid tribute to community members of Hispanic and Latino heritage. Soccer players from both the girls and boys middle school soccer teams also showcased their skills as part of the celebration.
Student dancers performed a variety of Latin dances including Bachata, Merengue and Punta.
