Members of the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum & Planetarium recently visited students at Northwest Elementary School in Amityville.

The planetarium, which is based in Centerport, combines visually stunning presentations and hands-on demonstrations to create engaging and interactive educational astronomy experiences. At Northwest, kindergartners learned about the weather and the four seasons of the year. First and second graders learned about the basics of astronomy and the moon. Additionally, students got to see a plasma globe which is used to demonstrate how lightning works.
